Professional Services: Beyond Therapy
Professional Services
Beyond the psychotherapy room, I work with professionals, teams, and organizations facing the human realities of demanding work: responsibility, uncertainty, exposure to suffering, and the challenge of sustaining a meaningful life and career.
-
My work grows out of more than 15 years across military, veterans’ health, first responder, and academic medical settings. Within medicine, I have developed and delivered programming with oncology, palliative care, obstetrics and gynecology, intensive care, nursing, orthopedics, surgical specialties, medical trainees, and population-health teams.
I bring a clinical psychologist’s perspective to the work, while remaining attentive to the actual conditions people are working within. Engagements are shaped around the needs of the audience—not generic wellness messaging.
Professional Coaching
-
This work is especially useful during career transitions, changes in leadership responsibility, periods of burnout or drift, or when professional success has begun to come at too high a personal cost. We can focus on decision-making, boundaries, communication, sustainable performance, professional identity, and making choices that reflect what matters most to you.
I frequently work with physicians, healthcare professionals, educators, first responders, and other people accustomed to carrying responsibility for others.
Professional coaching is not psychotherapy and does not involve diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition.
Clinical Supervision and Mentorship
-
My experience includes founding and directing behavioral-health programs for medical residents and fellows, first responders, and veterans. Consultation may focus on complex clinical presentations; trauma and moral injury; work with high-responsibility populations; professional identity; ethical questions; supervision and teaching; or career development within clinical and academic settings.
Engagements may be recurring or time-limited, depending on your goals and applicable professional requirements.
Psychotherapy for people carrying a great deal.
-
I have delivered grand rounds, invited lectures, keynotes, and multi-session curricula for oncology fellows, palliative-care teams, physicians, nurses, residents and fellows, first responders, veterans’ health programs, and national professional audiences.
My work in medicine has included programs for ICU and nursing teams, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, surgical specialties, emergency medicine, and population health. Programs are grounded in the work people are actually doing: caring for others amid uncertainty, loss, competing demands, and the pressure to keep going.
Topics include:
Flourishing beyond burnout: building a meaningful and sustainable professional life
Moral injury, moral distress, and pathways toward repair
Meaning-making amid uncertainty, loss, and responsibility
The “signature wounds” of frontline work and pandemic recovery
Social connection as a practical target for wellbeing and resilience
Building mental-health programs that first responders will actually use
Performance, values, and remaining fully human in demanding work
Programs can be adapted for grand rounds, keynotes, retreats, leadership meetings, and multi-session curricula.
REWIRE and Relationship-Centered Workshops
-
Developed through my work with combat veterans, REWIRE treats social connection not as a pleasant add-on, but as a meaningful source of recovery and direction. It helps participants identify the relationships, roles, communities, and values that give their lives weight—and take practical steps toward living more fully within them.
Workshops can combine brief teaching with facilitated reflection, small-group discussion, and concrete exercises. Possible formats include:
From Burnout to Agency: identifying what is within our control and rebuilding a life around values
Beyond Burnout: Cultivating a Flourishing Life: a practical framework for wellbeing amid chronic stress, suffering, and responsibility
The Guest House: a reflective workshop on making room for difficult emotions without being ruled by them
Relationships as Recovery: identifying and strengthening the connections that sustain wellbeing
Moral Injury and Repair: naming what has been carried and considering what healing may require
Team Reflection After Difficult Work: creating a structured space to process, learn, and remain connected
Workshops can stand alone or become part of a broader curriculum for teams, trainees, leaders, or professional communities.
